I See the Moon and the Moon Sees Me...

Image
So my schedule has been pretty full of late, and I haven't been blogging as much as I'd like to.  I finally have some time to blog tonight, but I'm struggling with it a little.  The reason I am struggling is that I have a bruise the size of an orange on my right arm and my arm is swollen and stiff.   I'd show you a picture of it, but I don't have a camera right now. (You probably wouldn't want to see a picture anyway--it looks pretty ugly!)  My husband has been out of town for a couple of days and will be gone for a few more.  He took the camera with him, so I don't have one here at the moment. He is on a business trip that is going to segue into an Indians game trip over the weekend.  So this arm of mine is sore, making typing not much fun.  It's not a big deal, just a minor inconvenience.  Perhaps I should explain. I went after work to donate blood yesterday.  I passed the iron test and the blood pressure test and so forth, and they said I ...

Come On, Give a Little!

Image
It's the weekend!  You all ought to be dancing!!  My son was watching Vh1 on TV this morning.  This song came on and caught my attention because it is fun and kicky to both watch and listen to. Yes, this is the same Hanson of "MmmBop" fame.  HA!  Don't be a hater.  Give it a listen and see if it doesn't get your Saturday off to a nice cheery, bouncy start.

Feeling a Little like Jane Jetson!!

Image
Do you remember the flying cars that had the glass bubble on top used by George Jetson and his family?    I'm feeling a little like Jane Jetson today because last night I got a new car!  Well, it's new to me anyway.  It is a 2009 Honda Fit.  Because it has such great visibility in all directions, gets fantastic gas mileage, and is so much fun to drive, it feels like I am flying about in a Jetson car.  I love it!! I haven't had a new car in sixteen years, so this is pretty exciting for me.  My younger son is excited too because he now has my old car.  Yes, he has inherited my little red, sixteen-year-old Geo Metro.  I'm not sure how lucky that makes him, but I suppose having my old car is better than having no car at all which is what his status was until last night.  We actually bought the Metro when I was pregnant with him.  I was eight months pregnant when we bought it, and I could barely fit behind the steering wheel! Although th...

A Little Snow, a Little Giggle, and a Little Dance

Image
We've had snow off and on most of this week. We haven't had a lot at any given time.  Most of it seems to melt off in the afternoon, only to get another inch or so overnight again.  I'm posting some snow pictures, not because there is anything spectacular about it, but because I promised my friend Nensa who lives in Indonesia that I would post some snow pictures for her.  So Nensa, these pictures are for you.  It was early morning when I took these shots. The sun was just rising, so the snow still looks pretty blue.    This black squirrel didn't like me taking his picture and ran up the tree when I took the next step closer.    This was taken while looking out from my front door across the street.  The snow plow didn't come down our street today.  We didn't get enough snow to warrant it.  I see my neighbor over there has shoveled his driveway though.  We didn't shovel ours.  We just drove through it.  It...

It's in the Air

It snowed today.  Since the day after Thanksgiving, our local Chamber of Commerce has been piping Christmas music out over our downtown square during daytime shopping hours.  The Christmas decorations are up at the library.  It's cold outside.  Yes, the air definitely has the feel of Christmas to it. I haven't played any music for you for  a while.  This seemed like a good one to play for you today.  There are a few different versions of this going around.  This particular one calls this event a Random Act of Culture.  I like that.  It appeals to me.   I love this song. Two things happen to me when I hear this song.  I get chills, and I well up with tears.  I'm not sure why this song moves me in this way, but it does.  It always has.  I wish I could have been there when this video was made.

Wedding Day Wishes--Video for a friend

My blogging friend Netster is getting married on September 12.  He asked if his blogging friends could make a video greeting for him that he could share during his wedding dinner.  I told him that I would, and this is the video that I made for him. Congratulations and best wishes to you and your lovely bride, Netster! Here are the words to the poem, if you'd like to follow along. Wedding Day Wishes To the bride and groom on this your wedding day, listen closely to me now for I have something I'd like to say. As you repeat your vows, as the husband takes his bride, remember the love you feel right now for the one that's by your side. For there will be days ahead when dinner gets burned. Mistakes will be made. Lessons will be learned. Angry words may sometimes be spoken, but please take care that no hearts are broken. Be patient and forgiving and keep your sense of humor too, because there will be times ahead when you need to share a laugh or two. The days in the future  w...

It Made Me Smile. It Made Me Think. It Made Me Cry.

This video is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.  It made me smile.  It made me think.  It made me cry.  The mothers' faces tell it all. Kathy from the blog, Spot On Cedar Pond , posted a story about a hen that she owns.  Her post reminded me of this video which made me want to find it and post it here.

The Beetle Invasion Is Over!

Image
Well, the beetle invasion is over. No, not THAT Beatle invasion . I'm talking about those little red bugs with the black spots. I call them ladybugs, but they are more properly known as Asian Lady Beetles. The ladybugs that were here last week have finally gone. They come here every fall for a few days in a big swarm and land on the outside of our house, on the doors, and around the windows. They also land all over any humans that happen to be walking about in the area where they are swarming. Although they aren't poisonous and don't inject venom into your skin, they do "bite" sometimes when they land on you. It feels like a tiny little pinch. It's not much, but it is just enough for you to go, "Hey!" and to react by trying to brush the creatures off of you. Supposedly, when they give you those little nibbles, they are "taste testing" you to see if you would be good to eat. Although I didn't get any pictures or videos of the swa...

Gratitude Dance

This is my 500th post on this blog. As those of you who have been visiting here for a while know, I sometimes post about gratitude and about the things for which I am grateful. To celebrate today, I thought I would post the Gratitude Dance. I have posted this before, but it was quite a long time ago when I had just a small handful of readers. I hope you enjoy it. Also, coincidentally, I posted my 300th post today on my other blog, Smiling With Daisy . If you have never visited my other blog, I invite you to do so. It contains things that I find amusing or whimsical. My goal on that blog is to leave my reader with a smile. I'd like to thank all of you who come to visit this blog. I very much appreciate your comments that you leave here, and I feel very fortunate to have made so many friends through blogging. I hope you return to visit again and that I can continue to post things that will make you feel like dancing. Thanks, all! I am grateful for all of you.
