Did You Hear the Shout? WOOT WOOT WAHOO! Did you hear the shout? School's been canceled. No one's going out. The report is in from the morning scout. The kids are cheering without a doubt. Freezing rain  has iced the roads. Go back to bed now.   School is closed. No buses will travel on that icy route. Too much risk  of sliding about. WOOT WOOT WAHOO! Did you hear the shout? "Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in morning, sailor's warning." Have you ever heard of the old adage above? This is one my parents used to say whenever there was a red sunset or sunrise. I did a little bit of research about it and found the following information at this site . "Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in morning, sailor's warning." Have you ever heard anyone use the proverb above? Shakespeare did. He said something similar in his play, Venus and Adonis. “Like a red morn that ever yet betokened, Wreck to the seaman, tempest to the field, Sorrow to the shepherds, woe unto the birds, Gusts and foul flaws to herdmen and to herds.” In the Bible, (Matthew XVI: 2-3,) Jesus said, “When in evening, ye say, it will be fair weather: For the sky is red. Weekend Weather Views

Saturday, the skies were gray, it was very cold and windy, and it snowed all day. Big fluffy, puffy snowflakes came down, piling up quickly. The wind caused some drifting outside of the city limits. The roads were treacherous, and just walking around on the sidewalks was a slippery, risky adventure. We, who live here, are used to this though. This is the time of year we automatically allow more time to get anywhere. Everything slows down out of necessity. More time is needed to get windshields scraped off and engines warmed. More time is needed to clear off sidewalks and shovel out driveways. More time is needed to slow down on the roads and exercise more caution. The city workers get busy with the snow plows and salt trucks trying to make the roads safe again. I thought I'd share some views from out the front door and side door at my house.
