Bigger and Bigger and Bigger!

Image
Quite a while back, I posted about all the additions that they made to our local hospital.  I thought at the time, that they were done with adding on to it.  I was wrong. (Well, imagine that!!)  You can read one of my earlier posts about it  here if you are interested. They added on another whole section on the back as you see here.   The sun was going down when I took this picture and shining directly on these walls.  It made them look a sort of gold color in this picture, but they are actually a light green.   This side of the addition has part of the green up, but there is still some of the black under layer that needs to be covered.   That concrete in the front there is our new helicopter pad for the patients brought in or taken out by helicopter. This is a better picture of the helicopter pad.  That building across the street is our local medical group where many of our town doctors have their offices. This side shows the green color be...

A New Tradition Begins With a Concert in the Hospital

Image
There has been a city band in my little town for the past 159 years.  We are kind of big on traditions around here.  Now a new tradition has begun.  Our little town, in addition to having a city band, how has its own city orchestra.  They had their first performance last night inside the atrium at our local hospital.  It was a magnificent concert.  As you probably have guessed, my son playing his upright bass was a part of that orchestra.  His girlfriend and her violin were also a part of it. Some of you who have been reading this blog for a while may remember the pictures I showed you of the outside renovations done to the hospital.  I don't think I've had pictures on here of the inside of the hospital though.  It really is quite nicely done inside.  The atrium is especially beautiful. This picture shows the orchestra performing in the atrium.  We are on the third floor looking down from the open balcony on the inside of the buil...

Nothing Changes But the Changes

Image
I went for a walk downtown on Sunday evening. I wanted to take some pictures of the hospital to show you the progress that's been made in the construction of the addition. It seems like it is taking a long time for them to finish. They still have quite a ways to go. I read in the local newspaper that they are making different sections of the hospital different colors. Supposedly, this is to make it easier for visitors to locate the area they need. It seems to me that just giving the wings each a name and using the room and floor numbers would have been sufficient. It seems to work in other buildings I've been in. I had been under the impression that they were going to make the new addition match the original building. Obviously, I was very wrong about that as you will see in the pictures I took. This black part is the back of the hospital. It isn't finished yet, as you can see. I don't know what color it is going to be when they get it finished. The brown brick...

Hospital Progress and Dancing, Of Course!

Image
A large addition is being built onto our local hospital. I walked downtown the other day and then walked all the way around the hospital taking pictures of the progress there. some of the original building a section being added to the back more of the original building ER entrance---I can't even tell you how many times I have been through those doors. At one time or another, I have been here with my husband, my sons, both of my parents, a nephew, and for myself. I am grateful we live just a short distance away from the hospital. The yellow walls have been covered up with an olive green layer at this end. At the other end there is now a black layer. It looks really nasty under here. They obviously still have a lot of work to do. This end still has some of the yellow showing. The construction site is all fenced off with lots of supplies inside . It looks pretty messy back here yet too. This is at the very back again. Still more yellow showing here. Well it's Friday night, so...
