Time With the Family and Abraham Lincoln Art

Image
On Sunday we went to a graduation party for two of my nephews.  One just graduated from college and the other from high school.  We bought one of those disposable cameras because I wanted to get some pictures while we were there, and I thought I'd share them with you.  Please forgive the poor quality of the photos. Here are the two graduates.  The taller one is the college graduate. These are my brother's kids.  We took pictures of the nieces too.  This is the younger one. This is the older one next to my husband. One other nephew was there, but we didn't manage to catch him on the camera. I did want you to see this though.  This is a painting that my nephew, the artist, did of Lincoln.  He's the shorter boy in the first picture above that graduated from high school this year.  I've written on this blog about some of his art before.  You may remember his painting of a ship on the ocean or of the giant eye that I wrote about in the past...

Do You Ever Feel Like Someone Is Watching You?

Image
I posted about my nephew , the artist, a few months ago. I wanted to share these photos from my brother. This is my nephew painting a giant eye as you can see. Do you ever feel like someone is watching you? HA HA! * * * * * I have no idea what this is, but it is so random and bizarre that it made me laugh out loud. Here are some dancing eyes for you. Oh, and then there's this for you today, too. Can you hear me laughing? I hope you dance today. Happy Friday to you!

Enjoying Some Art

Image
This is one of my nephews. He is my brother's youngest son. Ever since he could hold a crayon in his hand, he has been creating pictures. He progressed from crayon art to pencil and ink drawings and on to oil and acrylic paintings. He is now 16 years old and his art is a passion for him. He hopes to make a career out of it in some way eventually. He painted the picture below and gave it to his grandmother (my mother). It is hanging on the wall in her room at the nursing home. Yes, I know it looks like it is hanging a bit crookedly. Part of it is the fact that I had to take the picture from a strange angle because of the way the furniture is arranged there. Because I think he did a wonderful job with it, I wanted to share it with you. Click on the picture if you'd like to enlarge it and see the details. My nephew has been painting for several years now and has several other works that I love. I hope he continues to work on his art and to develop his talent.

Villain Architecture

Here's a neat article. And while I'm at it. Why not?

Awesome Video Game Art

Image
Here's a site where a bunch of artists have re-thought video game cover art in the style of The Criterion Collection Movie covers.... Some of them are really good. Not much info on a lot of them though leading we to wonder which person designed each (cuz there are some obvious standouts) and what game some of them are supposed to be.

Most of my photos here are linked to Photobucket, but the organization there leaves something to be desired. I have this Flickr account that was not really getting used all that much, so I am keeping an album on there of my dirty little habit you so faithfully read about. Clickr

Do-it-yourself light tent

Image
A first for my new blog here... someone else's stuff! Board member meczilla on skullbrain.org (Andy Chang) posted this cool little how-to showing a light tent for taking some cool, professional style photos of your toys. I will definitely be making one of these! I will post an update when I get mine set up. Thanks, Andy! Check out some of Andy's photos on his Flickr page I've been looking into taking clean studio-style shots of my toys for a while and everything was pointing me towards a light tent setup. A Smith Victor two light kit runs about 100 bucks. When I added "DIY" to my Google search I found some very practical and extremely cheap ways to get the same effect. I used: -A compact 6.1 megapixel Nikon S1 point-and-shoot camera. - Mini tripod (10 bucks) - You could use a stack of books or boxes too but you'll be restricted to 90 degree angle shots. - A banker's box (Free) - Cut windows out of the sides and top. Cut all the way to the back of the box...

Bemon stuffed in a suit

Image
New drawing. This one inspired by the M1Go monsters in suits that I love so much! I wish I knew how to make resin figures of my own - I would try to sculpt this guy out. He would make a cool addition to my shelf I think.

My Bemon Drawing!

Just trying something a little different. I saw a piece of clip art of a landfill which inspired this drawing style. I wish I knew how to ink properly so i could really get this drawing to pop.
