Shoop-Shoop-Shoop-Do-Wa

I've been walking on the track at the Y every day now for three weeks.  I've been getting up at 6:00 am every morning so I can fit it into my day.  Getting up early is sometimes a struggle, but I do it anyway because nobody can do this for me.  I've lost a little weight, not much, but a little.  More importantly, though, I feel stronger and have more energy and feel much less stressed than I did before I started. Going there has become pretty much routine in the mornings for me now which is what I hoped for.  I'd much rather be outside walking in the park, but the snow and ice and cold have been relentless this winter, making indoor walking necessary. I don't walk very fast.  In fact, I apparently walk even slower than I realized, or so it seems by all the people who keep whizzing by me as I plod along!  Yes, the twenty somethings and thirty somethings, both male and female zip past me, some walking and some running, as if I am standing still.  Th...

Catching Up

Image
I haven't blogged for a few days.  I'm sharing a few random thoughts and photos from the end of the week to catch up. I bought this bread to try.  It is a multi-grain variety and supposed to be a healthy choice. As you can see it is just 35 calories per slice. Well, when I took a look at the bread inside, I figured out why it is reduced in calories.  Half of it is missing!!  Look at the holes!  HA!   I liked the way it tasted, though, so I'll probably buy it again. *   *   *   *   * My husband was gone most of last week to an out of town conference for his work, so he wasn't able to be here with me to celebrate my new position at the library.  He did send me flowers to congratulate me, though.  That was sweet of him, don't you think? He also shared this picture with me from his trip.  He took it inside a restaurant where he ate during the conference.  It was one of those places that has things sitting all about and ha...

No Fooling, the Day Was Gorgeous!

Image
Last night the local weatherman predicted we would have a sunny day today with temperatures in the high seventies or low eighties.  When I heard that prediction, I thought that it sounded like it might be an April Fool's Day Joke, but the weather man wasn't fooling.  It was no joke.   We had an absolutely gorgeous day here today.  I was lucky enough to squeeze in two walks through the park, one in the morning and one this evening.  I might have spent even more time outside than that if I hadn't had to work at the library in the afternoon. I took a few pictures to share with you. The daffodils in my front flower bed now have buds on them, but they haven't yet opened up. I did find some at the park that were a little farther along than mine, though. I saw some hyacinths coming out too.  A bee was buzzing around one of them and decided to be in the picture. Most of the forsythia aren't out yet around town, but I did find a few early ones already out in bloom. ...

First time. First time today!

I went for a walk in the park tonight.  It was actually still light out for a while yet after I got home from work at the library, long enough that I could go for a walk and get home before sunset.  That is always a good sign to me when daylight hours start lasting a little longer.   My family said they didn't mind waiting for their dinner if I wanted to walk first before getting the meal started, so I took the opportunity to go.  I haven't been walking outside much at all for two or maybe three months.  It has just been too cold for me.  It was about thirty degrees or so tonight so I decided to give it a try.  It wasn't too bad, but it would have been better for me if  I had only walked for about thirty minutes instead of the forty-five minutes that I took.  My fingers and toes were pretty numb by the time I got back home. It was a pleasant walk even if it was cold.  It was quiet and peaceful.  I saw one person walking a dog, ...
