Oh no! Don't Let the Rain Come Down...

Image
I went for an early morning walk today before time for church.  It was warm and humid, but at least it wasn't raining.  I saw several bunnies.  Must be a good year for them because I have been seeing them everywhere lately. There is a lot of mud everywhere and standing water in a lot of places still.  I saw some irises in the park.  These yellow ones weren't doing too badly, but the purple ones all had their heads beaten down by the rain.  The colors were pretty, at least. This brick pathway had standing water over the whole length of it. No kids were playing on the playground.  A moat of water was around the equipment, and no drawbridges were lowered where a crossing could be made. The weeds have taken over the ground under the big trees in the park.  It has just been too wet for the parks department workers to get the mowers in there to mow.  Quite a few spots have big puddles of standing water. They did mow this one section of the park, bu...

Neighborhood Views

I didn't blog last week, but I did find time to take a few pictures to share with you.  You can click on them to enlarge them if you want to see more details. The ground under the trees in the park has a carpet of white that looks like snow. Thankfully, it is NOT snow, but is a carpet of these little white flowers instead. I caught this squirrel off guard stealing food from a bird feeder.  When he realized I was there, he scampered off to this tree.  Then he peeked around the trunk to scold me for taking his picture. The dark colored trees in this picture behind the blossoming white ones are crabapple trees.  Just today I noticed that they are now starting to open up with pink blossoms.  I didn't get over to take a picture of them, but I hope to do so in the next day or so.  The next few photos show some of the color I found around my neighborhood. I'm so glad to see that the trees are finally starting to get their new green leaves. This is the magnolia tre...

Please, No Paparazzi!

We finally had some warmer temperatures here this weekend.  I was thrilled to get in a couple of walks in the park.  I noticed the daffodils in this flower bed had buds on them getting ready to open.  Just as I was about to take a picture of them, I realized that there was more to my picture than just some soon-to-open buds.  Do you see her there? IN THE FLOWER BED She crouched behind  a daffodil. I nearly missed her,  she stood so still. Not a whisker moved,  till the camera click. Then she bounded off,  spry and quick. She bounced away,  camera-shy, waving at me a white-tailed goodbye.

Photo/Poetry Poll--Cast Your Vote, Reader's Choice

Image
I want to share a few photos that I took in the last week or two, but I'd like to ask a favor of my readers.  Take a look at these pictures and then in the comment section, please let me know which one is your favorite and that you'd like to read a poem about.  I was going to write a poem about one of these photos, but couldn't decide which one to write about, so I thought I'd let you decide for me.  Whichever picture gets the most votes, I'll write a poem about it and post it here. 1.  Max, who rules our house, made me laugh this week as he often does.  He pulled and tugged on these two pillows on the couch until he got them just where he wanted them.  Then he climbed up to lay on top of them with his head resting on the arm of the couch.  I think he wore himself out with the effort because he slept like that there for quite a while. 2. I don't know what these are called, but I liked these spiky looking flowers I saw at the park. 3.  This is the ...
