Irish-American Patrick Galen Dempsey was born on January 13, 1966, in Lewiston, Maine. Smelling Chicken, Listening to Mooing Sounds, and Giving Things Away (Truly Grateful Series)

The Chamber of Commerce in my town hosted their annual Business & Industry Show at the local Middle School yesterday, and I was there with our display booth from the library.   It is part of my job to put the display together including taking all of the pictures that are on the board and arranging the table when it is all set up.  We generally have three or four events during the year when we take the display booth somewhere and have it set up.  Another part of my job is designing and creating brochures, pamphlets, and bookmarks like you see on the right side of the table. We held drawings and gave away a children's book and a tote bag with the library logo on it every hour.  At the end of the show, we gave away the gift basket which held four children's books plus a tote bag, a mug, and a cap all with the library logo on them.   We also had pens and pencils and bookmarks to give away as freebies to anyone who wanted them. It was a nice change of pace to work at the displa

a bit of life inspiration

hi friends! i'm back, and i wanted to say thank you to everyone who left me sweet messages, tweets, and emails yesterday.  you guys are the best!  monday was a pretty rough day for me and my ocd .  we had to have someone come repair our bathtub, and even though i tried my best to prepare, i had a complete break down after he left.  it just felt like my entire bathroom had been contaminated, and even though i used a ridiculous amount of bleach, it still doesn't feel quite clean.  that's the nature of this beast, though, and some days are really hard to survive.  i'm sure we all know the feeling of good days and bad days, of huge victories and utter failures.  life is a struggle, a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, but i think that's also precisely what makes life so beautiful.  it really is just like that cliched analogy of how a caterpillar must struggle to become a butterfly. one of my favorite books of all time is hope for the flowers , * by trina paulus.  ha

#92: Barney's Version

Image
Paul Giamatti is one of those actors we can refer to as being very selective about their roles. With some actors it's by chance, with Paul it seems to be a matter of design. This is a man who can don a whole range of characters with ease. In age, appearance or diction, he can change gears effortlessly. As the villain in Shoot 'Em Up , he was menacing and as a divorced husband in Sideways . he could make you feel he was the most wronged man on planet earth. His performance as Barney Panofsky in this 2010 movie, adds another illustrious chapter in his acting career. So much so, you could very well believe that Giamatti goes by the middle name of versatility. To summarize it in a line, Barney's Version is about a man who has been divorced thrice and his version of how his marriages played out. The three wives are played by Rachel Lefevre ( First two Twilight movies), the fabulous Minnie Driver and the extremely pretty Rosamund Pike. Set in Canada, the movie is an adaptation
