Singing Skies

Image
Psalm 19:1-4 (New International Version)    " The heavens declare the glory of God;  the skies proclaim the work of his hands.   Day after day they pour forth speech;  night after night they display knowledge.  There is no speech or language  where their voice is not heard.   Their voice goes out into all the earth,  their words to the ends of the world."      The skies were definitely speaking to me on my Saturday night walk.  I kept stopping to take pictures of the clouds and the sunset.  They just seemed especially beautiful to me.  I'll hush now so you can enjoy listening to what they have to say. I love this last one with the lights of the theater being the only thing you can see of the buildings; the rest just in silhouette against the magnificent blaze of that singing sky.

It Amazes Me! (Truly Grateful Series)

Image
Yesterday afternoon, I had the opportunity to drive to Bowling Green, Ohio to attend a presentation at the library there by a lady named Nancy Pearl.  There may be one or two of my readers who have been around long enough and who read both of my blogs that remember me doing a post before about Nancy Pearl .  She is a librarian and writer.  She wrote the book, Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment and Reason , among others.  She also has her own action figure or doll, if you prefer, which brings her finger to her mouth in the classic "Shhhh!" pose when you push a little button.  The action figure is a bit of whimsy that amuses me.     The real life Nancy Pearl, in person, was quite amusing too.  She gave a very interesting and entertaining speech which included many anecdotes about how her local library was a major influence on her as a child when growing up, what it was like for her to later become a librarian, an...

Thanks to My Friends

Image
My friend Jen at Unglazed held a giveaway on her blog recently, and I was fortunate enough to have my name drawn out as the lucky winner! Many thanks to Jen for holding such a fun giveaway and for the prizes that I received this week in the mail. As you can see in the photo above, Jen sent me a hummingbird feeder and the food to go in it along with a very cute pot of flowers. The pot of yellow daisies (not a coincidence, I'm sure!) goes great with my yellow kitchen and now looks right at home sitting on my kitchen table as a centerpiece. I love it! As soon as it stops raining long enough that I can get it done, I want to get the feeder put up too, so that the hummingbirds can start visiting here. I can't wait to start watching them! Thanks so much, Jen, for sharing and for your generosity and thoughtfulness! * * * * I'd also like to thank Wixy who writes several blogs, all of which are worth a visit. Music Monday---It's Cold, and It's Getting Colder

Image
I have this song sung by John Denver in my head at the moment. Gee, I wonder why? It is part of his Season Suite. Winter (From Season Suite by John Denver) It's cold and it's getting colder It's gray and white and winter all around And oh I must be getting older "And" all this snow is trying to get me down There's a fire in the corner slowly dyin'"(away)" Sometimes I just don't feel like goin' on "(anymore)" And yet I know it's more than worth the waiting For another chance to see the summer sun Come on, shine on me! "There's a fire in the corner slowly dyin' (away) Sometimes I just don't feel like goin' on (anymore) And yet I know it's more than worth the wasting (away) For another chance to see the summer sun Come on, shine on me!"
