Sunset Walk

Earlier this week, I took a walk at sunset through the park and took pictures every few minutes of the sky.  It seemed to change with every step I took.  I put the photos into this slide show. My walk was forty-five minutes long, but this quick montage is less than a minute of what I saw.  I hope you like it. Photo and video editing at www.OneTrueMedia.com

Off to Mail Some Letters...Or Not

Image
I had some letters ready to mail late today, so I decided to walk downtown to mail them instead of walking through the park as I usually do.  I also wanted to show you how our hospital has changed, but I took so many pictures that I decided to save the hospital shots for another post. I also took a slew of  sunset photos which I will also post another time. So this post will just be of some of the sights along the way and some views of downtown Saturday night here. I liked the way this bright red stop sign stood out against the yellow leaves of the tree behind it. I came across a spot in the sidewalk where there were a lot of these pods.  They fall from some sort of tree.  I'm not sure what kind.  The pods are really long, about a foot or so each, and they have what looks like beans or seeds inside of them.  I think they are a nuisance.  There was one of these trees in the yard next door to my Mom's house.  The pods would fall over into her yard a...

"Come Saturday Morning..."

Image
I went for a nice long walk in the park on Saturday.  The weather was beautiful, and there were lots of others out and about and enjoying the day too.  Many people were out for walks with their dogs or stopping to watch one of several baseball games that were being played on the ball fields.  Trees and flowers were in bloom everywhere. Across the ground in the park, where just a short time ago there was nothing but mud and standing water, we now had carpets of flowers that made it look almost as if it had snowed. Up close, the "snow" carpets looked like this---white and pink flowers sprinkled across the ground. There were many white blossoms on the trees in the park and surrounding areas too. This hyacinth is now out in full bloom, as you can see. These pretty little blue flowers were dancing in and out of the sunlight in the light breeze that was blowing. We now have most of the forsythia bushes out in full bloom. The baseball diamonds were busy places with both pla...

Just a Small Town Girl

Image
Here are a few sights from my weekend walks. This is a brazen bunny that only moments before I took this picture was in my neighbor's garden enjoying a feast on the fresh produce. (Brazen--I like that word. The definition of brazen is "Marked by flagrant and insolent audacity.") Mushrooms (or maybe toadstools?) growing in another neighbor's yard. It seems like there ought to be a leprechaun or a fairy sitting on one of these. Oh wait, let me look closer. Is there something there? Or maybe someone? Oh yes, now I see him. There he is. A tent is set up in the parking lot at the drug store. No the circus isn't in town. It's the Amish. They come and sell home grown farm produce from this tent during the summers here. This week they are advertising strawberries for sale. This is the helicopter pad at the local hospital. Accident victims are sometimes brought here by helicopter. Also patients are sometimes transferred to here or from here via helicopter in c...
