Mellow Yellow Monday

Image
To take a small break from the photos of ice and snow here in frozen Ohio, today I am participating in Mellow Yellow Monday, a new photo meme started by Drowsey Monkey . To view the photos of other participants and to join in the fun, click the butterfly badge at the end of this post. My choice for the first Mellow Yellow Monday is a photo of the daisies in my flower bed from last summer with lots of yellow centers. An obviously easy choice for me, don't you think? Because I don't like to miss the chance to add music to my blog in case someone reading this would like to dance, I have included a song for you here too. This is a special one for any old hippies who might be visiting here today. I bet you have already guessed the title of the song, haven't you? This is sung by Donovan.

Music Monday---Lady by Styx

Lady by Styx (lyrics) Lady, when you're with me I'm smiling Give me all your love Your hands build me up when I'm sinking Touch me and my troubles all fade Lady, from the moment I saw you Standing all alone You gave all the love that I needed So shy, like a child who has grown 'Cause you're my lady of the morning Love shines in your eyes Sparkling, clear, and lovely You're my lady Lady, turns me on when I'm lonely Give me all your charm Evenings when she lays down beside me She takes me gently into her arms Lady of the morning Love shines in your eyes Sparkling, clear, and lovely You're my lady Lady of the morning Love shines in your eyes Sparkling, clear, and lovely You're my ... lady Come join Music Monday and share your songs with us. Giving Gifts--Life and Music

Image
No, that is not a Christmas tree ornament above. Although it does look like something beautiful that might hang on a tree, doesn't it? It is actually a drop of blood. It represents a gift you could put UNDER the tree for someone this year rather than something to hang on the branches to decorate it. The American Red Cross Bloodmobile is going to be in my town today. I have an appointment there in a few hours to go and donate blood to them. Although it is much needed and appreciated all year around, donating blood seems to be an especially fitting thing to do this time of year. In this season of gift-giving, what better gift can you give someone than the gift of life? If you are eligible to be a blood donor but do not make a practice of doing so, please give it some thought and consider starting. The hour or so of your time that it takes may make a world of difference to someone. Click on the link above if you would like more information about donating. * * * * * * * * I ...

Winterwood

Image
The internet server for my computer was down off and on today, so it was a bit of a challenge to use the computer. We had our first real snowfall of the season today too. We didn't get much--- just a dusting. It was enough I had to scrape and brush my windshield and car windows after work tonight before I could drive home. Ice was already forming on the roads. Younger son, of course, is hoping for a school delay in the morning, but I doubt that it will be forthcoming. I took these pictures of some brown bushes out front wearing little hats of snow on their dried flower heads. The combination of the snow and woody stems made me think of the title of the song Winterwood by Don McLean, so I am sharing it with you in this post. The lyrics really have nothing to do with the snow. The image of winter wood, though, which to me means wood with snow on it, brought to mind this song. The lyrics are printed below the video if you are like me and like to read along with them as you li...

Going, Going, Gone!

Image
GOING...........(photo below taken a week ago) GOING...........(photo below taken three days ago) GONE......(photo below taken today) The photos above were all taken of the same maple tree in my front yard over the last few days. Once the leaves started falling, they went fairly quickly this year. No need for concern though. The front yard is once again safe for the squirrels and for the little dogs who want to cross the yard without a fear of drowning in the leaf river. The river of leaves in the front yard from three days ago as can be viewed below from looking out my front door. The river has been raked up into a mountain down in the street out front. It was already getting dark when I finished Friday night. Since the time change, it gets dark even earlier now. When I raked that day, the sun was shining and the temperature was a gorgeous 70 degrees. Today it is gray outside, the temperature is 36 degrees, and we are getting what the weathermen in these parts like to call a wi...

Say a Little Prayer For Me

Image
Today I'd like my readers to say a little prayer for me. Well, not specifically for me, for us, really. I saw the message in red below on the blog of a friend and thought I would like to pass it on to my readers here. Prayer always seems like a good idea to me. ONE MINUTE EACH NIGHT.... We have never been more desperate than now for God to heal our land. During WWII, there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace. This had an amazing effect, as bombing stopped. There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in the United States of America and our citizens need prayer more than ever !!! If you would like to participate: Each evening at 9:00 PM Eastern Time, 8:00 PM Central , 7:00 PM Mountain, 6:00 PM Pacific, stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United Stat...
