Make This Christmas Thing Last

Last night we went to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert at the Palace in Auburn Hills, Michigan.  The tickets for the concert were a Christmas gift from my sons.  I love the music of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and really enjoyed the concert. The Palace is a large venue for a concert in my opinion.  There were so many people there that it was a bit overwhelming for me at first.  It is the same stadium where the Detroit Pistons play basketball, and it was filled to the rafters with people last night.  We really enjoyed the concert.  Traveling there, however, was another matter.  The drive there reminded me of something that I already know.  I am NOT a city girl.  Give me small town life in the midst of farm country any day over life in a big city. There was a lot of traffic.  We got snarled up in it and inched along for quite a while.  We didn't know why the cars were backed up at first, but eventually we came upon the rea...

The Start of Something New

It's the end of another year.  The older I get, the quicker time passes.  Like many others, I am looking back at the past year and looking forward to the next.  I appreciate all the friends I have made through this blog who have shared the year with me, both the good days and the bad. As for everyone, there were days of sadness and difficulty and worry for me this year.  It was very difficult for me to come to terms with my mother's failing health and to have to make the decision to have her placed in a nursing home.  I still struggle with the sadness, frustration, and feelings of guilt that I have because she must live there.  It is not an ideal solution, but it seems to be the best that I can do. I also continue to feel sadness for my coworker, whose twelve year old daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor this year.  Although two surgeries reduced the size of the tumor, there is no getting around the fact that much of the tumor still remains. ...

Happy New Year!

Gabcast! Dancing With Daisy #45 - Orchids Click the play button above to hear me read this poem. Orchids Delicate blooms, fragile alone yet strong united, they are like a host of angels with white wings and cupped faces glowing with the light of God. Each angel carries a small golden star shining for the hope of peace and the promise of days yet to come. Glorious wonder, wonderful glory! Sing hallelujah! Sing! The orchids float in the air above a single green stem. They are tethered by faith between earth and heaven, past and future, old and new. Glorious wonder, wonderful glory! Sing hallelujah! Sing! I wish for all of us a new year full of joy and peace. I hope the days ahead bring blessings too numerous to count. Don't forget to dance whenever you get the chance! Thank you my friends. I get a kick out of you! =)
