it says my computer is effect(its model number) but it says my Battery is number on my battery starts with 6C5393... any tell me if it is effected?

The battery is paired with the computer - e.g. one battery goes with the computer serial (don't need to enter that battery serial, it matches up with the computer) and a spare uses its own.

I think its Apple's fault. Motorola too. Apple always says how an 800MHz Powerbook is better at x and x than a PC, but the PC is still faster at like everything.

Its motorolas problem for not makin faster chips! But its Apples fault for not moving to IBM by now, and Apple is just accepting that they are barely over 1GHz when PCs are moving up on 3GHz

If a >=20MB app install needs to be done through WiFi, why a 500-6XXMB system update can be done through 3G?

AT&T and Verizon can make more money when the automatic updates cause you to go over your data plan...

    gotta love all this...

Reset PRAM, apparently that broke CoreDuoTemp sensor because mine is reading 12C, iStatPro is reading 12 C as well, but smcFanControl is reading 72 C. Week 27 MacBook by the way. So my suggestion is, if your MacBook has no issues or you are fine with how it is running right now, DO NOT UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE.

Just become some hacky software to read chip temperatures broke doesn't mean you shouldn't install an important firmware update.

Didn't you see the white 'just kidding' above the picture?
Once I started the rumor of the black Macbook actually beeing made of aluminum with some black vinyl on it (thus the $150 premium). A week later, I heard from someone totally messing up his Macbook trying to remove 'the black layer' on his brand new Macbook with a cutter. I laughed my ass of for a week. Totally worth it. :D

Duuude, you're soooo cool (and quite a fibber).

I was quite bummed out about no core 2 duo announcement. Can anybody tell me which, if any, pc companies are shipping with core 2 duo yet? Is this possibly going to be a silent release, and is it perhaps still happening in August or are we in for another long wait?

    For the Desktop

Add: I checked Dell, and their ship date for a Core 2 Duo System is August 12

I don't see this mentioned here, but Apple have told MacWorld ( - my bolding:

Despite SecureWorks being quoted saying the Mac is threatened by the exploit demonstrated at Black Hat, they have provided no evidence that in fact it is, Apple Director of Mac PR, Lynn Fox, told Macworld. To the contrary, the SecureWorks demonstration used a third party USB 802.11 devicenot the 802.11 hardware in the Maca device which uses a different chip and different software drivers than those on the Mac. Further, SecureWorks has not shared or demonstrated any code in relation to the Black Hat-demonstrated exploit that is relevant to the hardware and software that we ship.

This is the classic response of the mac forum member who wants to act too cool to care that someone, in fact, proved them wrong.

The fact that Apple makes a quality product and provides solid customer service has not escaped me. My point was that Apple's practice of charging top dollar for outdated technology and keeping their customers in the dark as to new releases is poor. The only true way to show your disapproval of this practice is by closing your wallet.

If you want to prove me wrong, feel free to cite to a Consumer Reports article which promotes overcharging for older technology or withholding information from consumers which forces them to make purchases without full information about the market ... about any company.

    Check and mate.

Most people (myself included) are quite frustrated that Apple hasn't released the new MBP yet ... which is really frustration at the company for their practices. I think most would appreciate a simple announcement that new MBP's are coming out on a certain date, or a statement that they are working on specific technology, etc.

Hmmm... I wonder if I'm affected. I replaced my iBook G4 battery with a different brand. Wonder if they've got the same problem. I suppose it's possible that I could get a free new battery out of all this -- not bad!

YEP I'm ready too....i5/i7 would be a great refresh - the politics with upgrading every tuesday kills us all. PC's are far ahead right now in terms of processors. I went through the models and upgrade strategies here ( on my blog.

And don't have a single 12/13in model in existence? I don't think so.

Some people want small form factors. It's a shame Apple thinks form factors and power are in a 1-to-1 relationship. Some people want powerful laptops with smaller displays (12in PB is no more) or less powerful laptops with larger displays (15in iBook is no more). Hopefully Apple learns to stop limiting themselves in this way. Think differently differently.

Exactly what I have been demanding, too...not tiny crap with 9" or 10" displays like those from Sony or others...I just want a new 12" MB or MBP...15" or 17" are too much to carry around for those that don't need all the bells and wish:

MB or MBP Core 2 Duo 12"
    1Gb RAM
    120Gb HD
    Backlit Keyboard (if technology allows)
    128Mb discreet GPU
Optical drive (no need for DL)

    Is that really so hard?

I'm fine with Best Buy... but Radio Shack & Toys "R" Us, not so much.

Why? Who cares where you buy it.... they all carry the same Apple warranty, regardless.

Radio Shack has carried Apple products previously, and it's pretty obvious that the iPad makes a great gaming device.... Why not Toys "R" Us?

It doesn't seem silly to me at all. What is the point of upgrading...It certainly is silly. People UPGRADING to Vista, as you just said, aren't going to buy the full retail $399 box. That's stupid. They are going to buy the Upgrade or oem.

It's true that retail box upgrades are a small fraction of Windows sales, but this only goes to show how wary Windows users are of upgrading, and that the vast majority will only buy into the newest version of Windows when it comes pre-installed on a new PC -- IOW, when they have no other choice.

One of the many ironies here is that we're forever hearing about how Apple shafts their customers with high prices, but when Microsoft does it in an even more naked and obvious way, people fall all over themselves to excuse it. Now that's silly!I think M$FT completely sucks as a company. They are a necessary evil that I can deal with (just like many other corporations) and if they piss me off too much I will stop purchasing their products like I've done with other companies.

The problem with so many Mac appologists is that they are incapable of having an honest debate. You and snowy could rightly argue against the $259 upgrade price of Vista Ultimate or the ~$180 OEM price of Vista ultimate but you don't. You and others like you would rather be disingenous and go on and on about the $399 retail box version that very few will buy.

If people are upgrading from XP to Vista they will buy the software at the upgrade price or the oem price.

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)

If you think about it, it's not all too surprising that some of these "professionals" are getting so worked up and sulky over this release. The notion that "pro editing" can belong to just about anyone, rather than an exclusive circle of elites, poses an existential crisis. Apple's re-thinking of editing is also a re-thinking of what it means to be "professional". The announcement sheds light on a future in which their "advanced", learned techniques are no longer advantageous. The "industry pros" are facing the plight of impending impotence. It's not something anyone would really openly admit, but I think they're feeling a bit naked, stripped of their status.

Who can blame them for being pissy?

I think you're overstating this "existential crisis".

There's a lot of skill behind what professional editors do. You don't just pick up the same set of brushes and achieve what Monet or Picasso did ... The divide between professional and amateur will still exist even with the same toolset.

I'm loving the new look/style/features though will await further clarification and a quiet month before I upgrade my previous version.

    Best Wishes.

Urr no. Sony Vegas had had this sort of pricing for years and is used widely professionally because that was what it was designed for. Do you actually think that being a professional is being about owning a certain piece of software? So true, I know folks still running the original Media 100, GV Edius, MC Meridiens and even first run Premiere.
Folks you really only need one or two video layers to get a job done :)
From my line of work I rarely go higher than 2 since most of my work is done pre NLE (motion design and 3D).

Just put a retina display into the next revision! The same PPI is not needed hence the greater viewing distance, but 1024x768 is noticeable after using the iPhone 4.

I hope isight stays. Maybe on a smaller format.
I have mixed feelings about the built-in isight. For a desktop model I think I rather have the stand alone isight so i can easily move it around.

    If they redo the iSight I think it should be either;

    Better resolution 1280x1024/720
Wireless - so I can use if on my tv away from my mac for chatting / use it as a security camera / use it as a scanner for the likes of Delicious Monster

I can't imagine that apple is too concerned with this. If a developer has problems, they can take their business elsewhere as far as Apple is concerned. They have definitely always been our way or the high way, which can be good and bad.

I'm a bit confused. How exactly does the context of the Old Testament point to a triune god? I've done a lot of academic study of the Tanakh in general, and Second Temple Judaism in particular, and I'm at a loss to where in Jewish orthodoxy the idea of a triune god exists.

I'm sorry SuperJudge. I should have worded myself better. What I'm trying to say is that the information presented on the web page that I referenced points to contextual clues that would require one to know the Hebrew language to understand. Additionally, understanding Hebrew history in terms of traditional beliefs and culture is also beneficial when understanding the connections between the old and new testament and hence the old and new covenant. We believe that Christ fulfilled the prophecies of the old testament.

I didn't mean to imply that traditional Jewish belief supports the concept of the trinity. Obviously, it does not as they interpret the old testament as a stand alone without the revelation of the new testament.

I didn't intend to be confusing, just to point out that simply reading the old testament on its own in a modern translation might not bring out all of the nuances that are there in the original language and context.

For answers regarding how the old testament itself does point to a triune God then look at the web page I referenced in my previous post.
