Went to see The Tourist


December 29, 2010. R and I went to see The Tourist (Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, 2010). One of the worst movies ever. Just because that guy made The Lives of Others (2006) some producers were prepared to give him loads of money to make that unspeakable turkey? It's not even remotely believable at any point, it's just BAD. But... Angelina Jolie is GORGEOUS! See the way she walks. Hear the way she talks (phoney British accent and all). See the shoes she wears. Johnny Depp is sadly bloated, Vanessa must stop cooking French petits plats. Plus, you get lovely views of Venice.

I was in sixth form when it came out, and was a student of 'Theatre Studies', so there was naturally a lot of talk about this overtly theatrical piece. Finally I was convinced to go and see it (Tom Done, who was in the year above and who was utterly terrifying, though who is now a good friend, won me over by stating the line I have used as a title.
