wedding recap ~ what we wore!

~ what i wore ~

the dress: i always knew i wanted something unique for a wedding dress. i went ahead and tried some traditional wedding dresses and hated them! they just were not for me. i looked all sorts of places but kept coming back to the gorgeous designs of sarah seven. so we took a trip to portland and i fell for the "pink petals" dress. i really wanted my dress to be light blue because i'm not a fan of whites or creams, and i'm not really into following traditions. but after a long talk with dannon i decided that it was his wedding too, and if seeing me in something white was the one tradition he was looking forward to, i could give him that. so i had her make it in the darkest cream she had! :)

i also wore a simple blue wrap that i got for $15 at some random department store for the cooler evening hours.

the earrings: i was so super excited about my earrings! i had seen these beauties about a year ago in san francisco, but was never able to buy them. the month before the wedding, after i had already moved to l.a., i decided that i definitely needed to have them. i did some internet research and finally found the amazing artist behind these earrings, mariele-ivy! i contacted her and asked if there was any way i could get them in time. she couldn't have been more amazing and helpful. she whipped up a custom pair, even though she was on vacation, and got them to me just in time for my wedding! they matched my dress Perfectly!!!

the shoes {or lack thereof}: i hadn't really thought about shoes at all until the week before the wedding. since i knew we would be in a grassy backyard i decided to just go barefoot! then for the dancing and our bicycle getaway, i wore some of my pink studio sandals that i already owned. easy breezy!

hair and make up: as you can see i didn't get all fancied up on my wedding day. i never liked seeing brides with tons of make up on or super done-up hair. they always looked strange or plasticky, and definitely didn't resemble their beautiful selves. i don't usually get all done up in real life, so i didn't want to look like some weird version of myself on my most special day. my dear friend katie helped do my hair in a way that is pretty close to what i normally do, but a little classier, and i just used some of the make-up i already had. i was so happy with it all!

{"and the other one screams 'oh my god a talking muffin!' ahahaha! this wedding is hilarious."}

~ what he wore ~

dannon looked so dashing didn't he?! he mostly just wore what he already owned - khakis, shirt, hat, and leather flip flops. the super exciting thing about his outfit was his vest. he had sent it off to medium reality, fabric artists in the san francisco bay area, who graffitied it with scraps of fabric! they even sent him a scrap strip for his hat. he was wearing beautiful art and it looked so awesome. we couldn't have been happier with it!

the back of his vest even sorta matched my tattoo!

aren't these photos so fun?! we had an amazing photographer, nataliya cole, and i highly recommend her. after attending a friend's wedding this weekend, where we witnessed very rude photographers, we realized what a gem nataliya is. she captured great photos, was easy to work with, and was so delightful on our special day. check out her portfolio, and of course i'll be posting a bunch more over the next couple weeks here.

more of our wedding coming soon!
