OPERA: Went to see La Traviata


July 25, 2009: OPERA. Went to see La Traviata in Rome at the Anglican Church on Via Nazionale. Dir. Mauro Roveri. Filarmonica d'Opera di Roma. Ah, Violetta, Ur-Kept-Woman, one never tires of you. The singer took a while to find her voice, though, and after the second act a good twenty people had left: can't have been just the (ungodly) heat.

No 211 - Moulin Rouge! Director - Baz Luhrmann I remember very vividly when I first saw this film. I was in sixth form when it came out, and was a student of 'Theatre Studies', so there was naturally a lot of talk about this overtly theatrical piece.
