Turkey Vultures
like little old prune-faced ladies
in faded black woolen coats and red hats
huddled together to gossip and squawk.
As if a prankster
has tossed a lit firecracker amongst them
to purposely startle them,
they scatter and swoop,
with their lacy, fringed, black feather shawls
unfurled and flapping at their sides.
It's all because someone with a camera
clapped her hands,
hoping to make them fly,
so she could take their picture.
