When Was the Last Time You Saw a Frog in a Slinky, Red Evening Gown?

I mentioned yesterday that I visited an Antiques Market over the weekend. I took pictures of a few of the things I saw there that I found to be amusing or whimsical.

We were there for a very short time and saw only a small portion of what was on display. I would like to go back there sometime when I can spend more time looking at the wares.
Here is a glimpse of a few things that I saw.

This Oriental fellow standing amongst some fake flowers and some dishes made me smile.

As a kid, I had a Mickey Mouse marionette puppet that I loved to play with, so I liked seeing these marionette puppets hanging from a pegboard.

One of the things I love about this type of marketplace is the randomness and silliness of what you will find and how things are arranged on the shelf. For example, I loved seeing this frog wearing a slinky red evening gown. First of all, the incongruity of it amused me. It is not often that you see a frog in an evening gown---especially a RED one! This frog seems quite self-confident and proud to be seen wearing high fashion and sits posing and smiling.

To add to the humor of it, there is a little Father Christmas peeking out from behind the frog on the shelf. Now tell me, how long has it been since you've seen a little Father Christmas peeking out from behind a giant frog wearing a slinky red dress? I am willing to bet it has been a while!

I thought these giant building blocks with Disney characters on them were whimsical. They brought back memories of all those Disney cartoons I watched as a child.

Randomly displayed next to the blocks is this drum major's hat.

Although, by having this hat there, it reminded me of the introduction to the original Mickey Mouse Club show on TV where Mickey Mouse, wearing just such a hat, is the leader of the band as they sing the M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E song. So maybe it wasn't such a random placement after all. Do you remember this one?

Probably the most unusual item we saw at the market was this giant shoe chair. Now how silly (and fun) is that? Even sillier was the price on this. Can you believe that the tag on this was $899.95?!!? Yes, for just shy of $900.00, we could have gone home with a giant shoe chair to add to our living room......but, needless to say, we didn't.

My older son, who enjoys random things and silliness as much as I do, had to try it out, of course. He thought it would be a good addition to his dorm room at college. Sorry, Charlie, that's NOT going to happen!

Speaking of big shoes and random things and silliness, you all know I don't want to miss a chance to dance. So it is time to put on your big shoes and dance with me, my friends---TEQUILA!
