Spring Walk

Image
I just wanted to share some pictures from my walk yesterday. Spring has arrived. This tree is just down the street from my house. I see a nest of some sort up there close to the top. They certainly have a beautiful view from there. As they say in the real estate business, "Location, location, location." Under the big old trees in the park was a whole carpet of tiny flowers. There were two different kinds. This was one of them. This was the other kind. They all have their heads hanging down. They remind me of little Dutch girl hats or maybe Sally Field as the Flying Nun . I tried to get a bug's eye view of them from the ground underneath them looking up at them. The carpet of flowers covers most of this whole area under the trees in the park. From a distance away, the white flowers on this bush looked like fluffy spiders floating in the air. This is what they looked like up close. My favorite weeping willow tree is getting new leaves. The branches look like big...

Smiley Sunday--Spring Trees

Image
It was chilly and windy today and sprinkled rain off and on with the temperature in the middle forties. In between the times it was raining, I managed to get a short walk in. It is still too early for most of the spring trees to be out in bloom here yet, but I did find just a few blossoming in the park today. They were enough to make me smile. From a distance, the trees pictured above looked almost like they had pink clouds of smoke sitting on their branches. The flowers on the branches are a delicate pink and white. If I could freeze time, I would definitely make it be spring year around. This little white blossoming tree below was farther down on the path in the park. It looked like an umbrella to me. So, of course, I had to go and stand underneath of it just to see what that was like. This is the view looking out while standing next to the tree trunk. It was like a lacy flower veil. I hope you found a reason to smile today. If you'd like to join in on Smiley Sunday, click the...

Getting Dressed

Gabcast! Dancing With Daisy #52 - Getting Dressed Click the play button above to hear me read this poem. Getting Dressed Clad only in white bark, the trembling tree of early spring reaches its branches up in the air in anticipation of the transformation. A small child, full of innocence, standing in white cotton underwear with arms stretched high, waiting waiting for her mother to slip, first a frilly white petticoat, then the soft green and pink folds of an Easter dress over her head. Shivering only slightly in the breeze, the tree, with eager head held high in delight, smiles as the dress; made of white blossoms, pink buds, and green leaves, slowly slips over its thin branch arms and swirls down to the knees of its trunk. Now, properly clad in spring finery, the tree sways and looks over its shoulder with a flirty glance admiring its reflection in a nearby pond.
