Doubly Blessed

Image
I'm doubly blessed.  Two of my blogging friends have both passed on this blogging award to me.  Thank you, Mountain Mama and JL Dodge !! Of course, now I feel like dancing! I've seen this video several places recently. Thanks to my friend Cary from the blog List of the Day who shared it with me first.  Thanks to my friend Sandy too, who also posted this.  Just in case you have missed it, for whatever reason, I thought I'd post it here.   This is a T-mobile commercial and spoof of this video done with some talented look-a-likes in honor of the soon-to-happen royal wedding. This made me laugh.  I hope you enjoy it too.

Dancing Grandma: You Go, Girl!

I haven't had you up and dancing for a while.  I came across this and thought you might enjoy it.  She's 70 years old.  I hope I can move like this in another 20 years.

A Lovely Day

Image
It was a lovely day today. I took a few pictures of the remaining yellow leaves on the maple trees in the front yard. The sunlight was shining just so behind them, making them almost seem to glow. Traced by the complementary color of the blue sky background, the yellow leaves appeared to be shimmering in a light all of their own. The heavy, black silhouetted branches provided a stark contrast to the light, airy feel of the leaves and sky. It was just lovely. Speaking of lovely---Have you ever met a handsome gentleman in a department store who then began singing to you and dancing just because he was so thrilled to have met you? No? You haven't?... Me, neither. Well, perhaps you will enjoy watching it happen to Vera Ellen when she meets Donald O'Connor. All the best old songs seem to be from musicals. Here's another question for you. Have you ever been wearing a diamond tiara on your head and a gorgeous, fluffy, cotton-candy-pink dress with a sparkly, sequined to...

Get Up and Dance, You Old Slug!

Image
I saw this big slug making his way across the front porch. I liked the pattern of spots on his skin. (Skin? Do slugs have skin? Hmm...) The spots make him look a little like a jaguar or a cheetah or perhaps a leopard to me. I found it both amusing and interesting that one of the slowest creatures around should have any sort of similarity with one of the fastest creatures around. I took another picture of him with a quarter next to him so you could see the size of him. A Slug I'm just a slug, a slow moving bug, leaving a trail of slime. If you're in a hurry, go on around. I'll catch up... in my own good time. Yes, even the slugs have to dance when they come to my blog.

I DO Feel Like Dancing!!!

Although the lyrics to this song state the opposite, it is FRIDAY NIGHT, and I DO feel like dancing. Happy weekend to you all!

SHOUT! SHOUT! Knock Yourself Out!

Well, it's Friday, which, in and of itself, is a great reason to celebrate. What's more, today is my younger son's last day of school. So I am sure you know that he is feeling like celebrating. After today he is officially a freshman in high school. He has had a good week. Yesterday, his class voted, and he was chosen as next year's freshman representative on the student council. The day before that he received a letter from the Toledo Youth Symphony Orchestra . Based on his audition, he has been chosen to be one of their upright bass players in next year's youth symphony orchestra. Here is the mission statement from their website: " As part of the core educational mission of the Toledo Symphony, the Toledo Youth Orchestra brings together 100 of the most talented students from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan in an atmosphere of musical excellence." My son is elated. His mom is pretty happy about this whole matter as well. So with so many r...

You Can Dance If You Want To---But Please Don't!

Most of the time I like to encourage people to dance. There are exceptions to every rule, of course. Here are a few of those exceptions.

Dancing Inside

Here are some folks who have way too much time on their hands, but their efforts made me laugh .

I Hope You Dance

I love this song. Never fear those mountains in the distance.

Listen To The Falling Rain--Truly Grateful Series

I woke up to the sound of rain hitting the window this morning. It was relaxing and peaceful. It has stopped for now, but it has done two wonderful things. It has washed the air giving it a fresh, spring smell, and it has turned the grass a rich shade of green. WOO HOO!! It's not brown anymore! It's turning a more beautiful color of green with each passing day. In celebration of the rain, the first thing I am going to do is post some of my favorite songs about rain. "Listen To the Falling Rain"---Jose Feliciano "Rhythm of the Falling Rain"---The Cascades "It's Raining Again"---Supertramp Of course, I would be remiss to not include this final song. This song brings me to the second thing I'm going to do in celebration of the rain today---DANCE! "I'm Singin' in the Rain" with Gene Kelly. I hope whatever the weather you are having that you find a reason to dance today. Lord, for rain and the music that celebrates it, ...

Let's Go To Jamaica

What do you think? Can you do this? YIKES!! Watching that made my back hurt! Come on let's dance. We don't have to go quite so low to have fun, I promise. Anybody want to go to Jamaica with me? Fantasies can all come true.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

It's a beautiful day here today, and it is St. Patrick's Day. Both seem like good reasons to get up and dance to me. Appropriate for the day, here is Riverdance. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you!

It's Friday Night! Do You Love Me?

It's Friday night! Here's some dancing music to get you up on your feet and ready for the weekend. Oh come on, you know you want to. Get up from your chair from behind the computer and move! You know I'll be dancing here.

God Jul! Good Yule! Merry Christmas!

Image
After reading about St. Lucia on Lynne's blog, Bun Mountain Cottage , and also on Lanny's blog, It's the Dirt , I started searching about to see how some other places around the world celebrate Christmas. I wanted to post some of what I found here on my blog starting with today's post. St. Lucia's Day is celebrated in Sweden, so I searched a bit about Sweden first. I found this video which shows a montage of Swedish Christmas scenes on the large Fredriksdal farm village museum community in Helsingborg, Sweden. I really enjoyed watching this, and so, I am sharing it with you. Now, do some stretches and limber up, so you can go dance around the Christmas tree the way they did in the video! You know I'll be dancing here!!

Elf Dancers!

A Thanksgiving Day Dance Feast

I have not had you out of your chair from behind the computer and dancing for a while, but I'm going to make up for that today. I know today is the day many of you will be dining on turkey and all the trimmings. Like me, you will probably eat a few extra calories that you wouldn't ordinarily consume. No need to worry, though. If you dance along to this blog post, you will burn off those extra calories in no time. I have prepared a complete Thanksgiving dinner day dance feast for you. Before we get started on the feast, though, first we must give thanks. It is much easier to dance if there is music in the air, so let's say thank you for the music. Now, how about a bit of turkey? And, just in case you don't know how to do the turkey trot, here are some youngsters who will show you how. Pass the mashed potatoes, please. May I offer you a Yam? And what would Thanksgiving be without dancing carrots? Might as well finish up with some pie. Would you like apple, peaches...

Note To Self---It's Monday: Time To Dance!

Well, it's Monday. You knew it had to come around again, didn't you? It always does. Remember, though, just because it is Monday, doesn't mean you can't dance! Here's a little "note"---actually several notes--- to help you remember to dance today. If you liked this video, you might also enjoy another post I did about Post-It Notes on my other blog . Every day for about a month or so now (according to the statistics I get from Sitemeter), someone in Finland has been coming to visit that particular post on my Smiling With Daisy blog. Whoever he or she is, they visit just that page of my blog and no others. I don't know or understand why this person or persons does this, but it amuses me. Happy Monday to you all! Don't forget to dance today.

Meet Max

Image
Max, the toy poodle, having heard that Charley the Lizard was on my blog, is now demanding equal time. So I put together a montage of Max pictures for you to see. Before you watch it, let me tell you just a little bit about Max. Max is actually my older son's dog, but because he has spent the most time with me, he has sort of attached himself to me. He is very protective of me and will growl at anyone (even my husband and sons) who comes close to me if he is also nearby. He will stop growling if I tell him everything is OK, but he is ever vigilant. He barks if the phone rings more than twice and no one is answering it or if the timer on the stove goes off. He likes to let us know that these things are making noise, I suppose. Every day that the mail is delivered, he sees it as his duty to sit on the back of our couch, look out the picture window, and bark at the mailman the entire time he is in our yard. As soon as the mailman leaves and goes into the neighbor's yard, Max...

Yippy Skippy, It's FRIDAY!

Today is Friday, and I have the day off from the library. That is enough of a reason to celebrate to me. It's time to dance!! Reenie shared the following video with me on her blog and it made me laugh. Thanks Reenie! This was filmed on the USS Enterprise and is the Navy's answer to the Numa Numa dance. These fellows are letting off a bit of steam, getting a little crazy, and having some fun. Looks like a good stress buster to me. Happy weekend to you all! Now come on, let's dance! If these guys can do it, so can you.

Little Children Know How To Dance

Image
Gabcast! Dancing With Daisy #36 - Little Children Know How To Dance Click the play button to hear me read this poem. Little Children Know How To Dance Little children know how to dance. They're not afraid to take a chance. They just get up and move, by the seat of their pants. There's no need for lessons or to know all the steps. They are not dancing to be noticed or to make others impressed. They're just filled with joy, moving to the beat. Dancing is just happiness overflowing through their feet. With a wiggle and a giggle and a hop and a jump, They'll dance till they're breathless doing the be-bop-de-bump . They have their own style. They have their own rhythm. They make you smile so much----like you're dancing there with them.
