I went for an early morning walk today before time for church.  It was warm and humid, but at least it wasn't raining.  I saw several bunnies.  Must be a good year for them because I have been seeing them everywhere lately. There is a lot of mud everywhere and standing water in a lot of places still.  I saw some irises in the park.  These yellow ones weren't doing too badly, but the purple ones all had their heads beaten down by the rain.  The colors were pretty, at least. This brick pathway had standing water over the whole length of it. No kids were playing on the playground.  A moat of water was around the equipment, and no drawbridges were lowered where a crossing could be made. The weeds have taken over the ground under the big trees in the park.  It has just been too wet for the parks department workers to get the mowers in there to mow.  Quite a few spots have big puddles of standing water. Last weekend, we had nothing but rain and wind and more rain.  The next day as I walked through the park, I found two things. I found flower petals from the trees on the ground everywhere I looked.  I also found puddles.  It was kind of sad that so many of the petals from the flowering trees were knocked down so quickly after they appeared, but it was inevitable. After the rain, a carpet of pink petals had been spread out underneath the crabapple trees. The rain came down so fast that it took a while for it to drain off and soak into the ground.  It was standing in a big puddle above the underground drain in the park. There was another big puddle behind one of the baseball fields underneath some pine trees. Everywhere I looked there were petals on the ground.  Pink and white ones were spread like confetti over the parking lots. Yellow ones were spread out underneath the forsythia bushes too. More pink petals lined the street along the curb and were littered over...

I've heard a lot of you roody-poo candy asses arguing Ninja is better than Ninja Assassin or vice versa Well I'm here to set the record straight. It's pretty much a draw, suckers! How's THAT for taking a controversial, hard lined stance? Wishy-washerman Loaf himself is here to say that maybe perhaps I enjoyed Ninja Assassin a little more for its ridiculousness, but Ninja was still solid and I will root for Scott Adkins until I find out about him torturing puppies or something in the future. Ninja's title is a bit misleading because it largely follows the traditional Hong Kong approach to ninjitsu in having the ninja be mainly a villain as opposed to a hero. None of the acting here is fantastic by any stretch of the imagination, and honestly after seeing Adkins' moves in Undisputed II  (another solid fuckin action flick) recently, I felt like some of the martial arts were a bit tame as well. I woke up to the sound of rain hitting the window this morning. It was relaxing and peaceful. It has stopped for now, but it has done two wonderful things. It has washed the air giving it a fresh, spring smell, and it has turned the grass a rich shade of green. WOO HOO!! It's not brown anymore! It's turning a more beautiful color of green with each passing day. In celebration of the rain, the first thing I am going to do is post some of my favorite songs about rain. It was a rainy day today with even some thunder rumbling around, but I was still smiling. If it is raining, that means it is too warm to snow, and I don't have to shovel the rain or the thunder. I accompanied my Mom to her speech therapy appointment today and visited with her for a while. I took the camera along on the drive over there. If you scroll really fast through the photos below, you can pretend like you rode along with me. :-) I was drenched when I arrived. When she saw me, she said, "It's raining cats and dogs out there." I said, "Yes, I know. I stepped in a poodle." I know, I know, it's a very old, very bad, very lame joke, but it made my mom smile. That made it worth my while.
