I'm doubly blessed.  Two of my blogging friends have both passed on this blogging award to me.  Thank you, Mountain Mama and JL Dodge !! Of course, now I feel like dancing! I've seen this video several places recently. Thanks to my friend Cary from the blog List of the Day who shared it with me first.  Thanks to my friend Sandy too, who also posted this.  Just in case you have missed it, for whatever reason, I thought I'd post it here.   This is a T-mobile commercial and spoof of this video done with some talented look-a-likes in honor of the soon-to-happen royal wedding. This made me laugh.  I hope you enjoy it too. 

It's the weekend!  You all ought to be dancing!!  My son was watching Vh1 on TV this morning.  This song came on and caught my attention because it is fun and kicky to both watch and listen to. Yes, this is the same Hanson of "MmmBop" fame.  HA!  Don't be a hater.  Give it a listen and see if it doesn't get your Saturday off to a nice cheery, bouncy start.

   We've had snow off and on most of this week. We haven't had a lot at any given time.  Most of it seems to melt off in the afternoon, only to get another inch or so overnight again.  I'm posting some snow pictures, not because there is anything spectacular about it, but because I promised my friend Nensa who lives in Indonesia that I would post some snow pictures for her.  So Nensa, these pictures are for you.  It was early morning when I took these shots. The sun was just rising, so the snow still looks pretty blue.    This black squirrel didn't like me taking his picture and ran up the tree when I took the next step closer.    This was taken while looking out from my front door across the street.  The snow plow didn't come down our street today.  We didn't get enough snow to warrant it.  I see my neighbor over there has shoveled his driveway though.  We didn't shovel ours.  We just drove through it.  It...

Don't miss the  1:20 mark on this first one.  It's my favorite part. In this next one, I like how in the middle he stops to take a look into the cooler, but then he's right back at it! Finally, kids are the best dancers, in my opinion, because they really do dance like they mean it and as if they don't care who might be watching.

For those of you who are just getting up because you have the day off for Labor Day and you were able to sleep in, here's one to get you up and moving.  My friend Mo shared this one with me, and it made me laugh.  Thank you, Mo!  The best giggle is at the very end.

I am over the moon tonight.  I got a phone call today.  It was the director of the library where I work. He offered me the job .  You are now reading the blog of the soon to be new Marketing and PR Coordinator at the library here in my little town.  I haven't been able to stop grinning all day. I feel a little like Navin Johnson from the movie The Jerk, starring Steve Martin, when he finds out his name is in the phone book.  I'm somebody now!   Pretty silly of me, I know, but I am still very excited.   I will have my own office (right next to the director's office!!).  I'll have a computer and printer and copier and camera and video camera (Heaven help us!) and all sorts of other goodies at my disposal to create ads and flyers and press releases and newsletters and whatever else I fancy to promote the library and its programs.   Thanks to all of you for your support and kind words and good wishes, thoughts, and prayers since my interview las...

I haven't had you up and dancing for quite a while.  Yes, I know it is all cold and snowy outside, but I'm just going to ignore that for now and dance anyway.   My older son will be here soon, home for a short weekend, and I am mixing up some brownies to put in the oven.  When I'm cooking in the kitchen, I like to put on some music and dance while I am doing it.  It's kind of like that scene in the movie, "The Big Chill"  when the characters dance around the table in the kitchen.  Do you remember that one? The music I'm listening to while I'm dancing isn't the song they had playing, though.  I'm listening to Lou Bega sing "Baby, Keep Smiling."  The lyrics begin with the words, "It's hot outside."  Of course, that couldn't be further from the truth, but it seems like the perfect song to cheer me up when it is cold outside, and I'm stuck inside.  It goes like this. I hope you all are having a good weekend!

I'm giving it all I've got with vitamins and copious amounts of chicken soup, hot tea, and orange juice, but I'm still losing the battle right now with the cold that has taken residence in my head.  It's not just renting space.  It has moved in.  In fact, I think it just had new carpet installed, is hanging new drapes, and is unpacking the boxes. I am bundled up in sweatshirts and afghans, but still can't get warm.  Looking outside at the snow that continues to come down isn't helping to warm me up much either.  The weather man is predicting up to six inches in accumulation for us from this storm. I obviously am going to need to clean my car off again before I can go anywhere.  The snow on my car is all new snow just from today.   This video made me laugh today, though, and everyone knows laughter is the best medicine. Hope you are healthy and staying warm wherever you are.

It was a lovely day today. I took a few pictures of the remaining yellow leaves on the maple trees in the front yard. The sunlight was shining just so behind them, making them almost seem to glow. Traced by the complementary color of the blue sky background, the yellow leaves appeared to be shimmering in a light all of their own. The heavy, black silhouetted branches provided a stark contrast to the light, airy feel of the leaves and sky. It was just lovely. Speaking of lovely---Have you ever met a handsome gentleman in a department store who then began singing to you and dancing just because he was so thrilled to have met you? No? You haven't?... Me, neither. Well, perhaps you will enjoy watching it happen to Vera Ellen when she meets Donald O'Connor. All the best old songs seem to be from musicals. Here's another question for you. These kids are talented and charming--overwhelmingly sweet. Watching them dance should get your day started off on the right foot.

I'm celebrating the Muppets today. Jim Henson's birthday was yesterday. He would have been 73 years old if he were still around. It's Friday night, and you know I like to dance on Friday night. I posted about my nephew , the artist, a few months ago. I wanted to share these photos from my brother. This is my nephew painting a giant eye as you can see. With the recent passing of Patrick Swayze, I thought I would post this video as a tribute to him as a dancer. He is dancing with his wife, Lisa Nieme, in this clip to the song, "All The Man That I Need." Rest in peace, Patrick. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Because my husband won tickets to the German American Festival over the radio, we traveled to Oregon, Ohio yesterday afternoon. Parking for the festival was in a large field. We have had so much rain of late, that the field was quite muddy in places. We had to walk a short way across the field to get to the festival. This photo below was taken as we were walking through the field where the cars were parked. Ahead you can see a woman dressed in a traditional German costume. At the entrance to the festival was a giant inflated beer bottle. It seemed like a good place for a photo, so my husband took a picture of me standing next to it. It was very windy yesterday and my hair was whipping around my face all a whirl. It was driving me crazy. Because I have naturally curly hair, it easily becomes unruly in windy weather or when humidity levels are high, both of which we had here yesterday. My older son tried to find a job this summer with no luck. Well, he has done a small number of odd jobs here and there. Mowing grass and doing yard work for a few people and a little bit of babysitting and pet sitting have kept him busy part of the time. He also worked for a few days helping tear out commercial refrigerators with a company owned by the father of one of his friends. Yesterday, he got a call back from the owner of a company that manufactures automobile parts locally. He worked for them last summer. Because business has been so slow, they didn't need him earlier in the summer. They got a big order in recently and needed some extra help, so they called my son. It is only a few days of work, but it made him happy to get the offer. They called him yesterday morning, and within half an hour of the call, he was there working. He's there again today. Last night before he went to bed, he asked if I could fix him a lunch and put it in the refrigerator for him to...
