SPECIAL: Marcus Orland Park's 2011 "Summer Classic Film Series"

For my south suburban Chicago friends, every year, for the better part of fifteen years, the Orland Park Marcus Theatres location puts on a summer classic movie series from June to August showing classic, old, and cult hit movies on the big screen for just $5.  The shows are admittedly on the late side at 9:00PM on Sunday nights, but, this year, they've added a Monday night 8:00PM encore second showtime.  Those who've been there over the years know these events are a nice piece of movie magic to be able to catch an old favorite on the big screen instead of edited-for-television on cable or on the small screen at home.  Sharing a great movie with an audience is a satisfying and unique experience, and introducing these films to a younger generation or a first-timer is special.  These are worth the pilgrimage to Orland Park and worth the five bucks.  I guarantee you'll see me there!

Here's the tentative (there's not a full web-posted calendar yet) lineup:

Sunday, June 12 and Monday, June 13-- THE GOONIES
Sunday, June 19 and Monday, June 20-- INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM
Sunday, June 26 and Monday, June 27-- THE BIG LEBOWSKI
Sunday, July 17 and Monday, July 18-- THE GODFATHER
Sunday, July 24 and Monday, July 25-- JAWS
Sunday, July 31 and Monday, August 1-- THE SANDLOT
Sunday, August 7 and Monday, August 8-- SILENCE OF THE LAMBS
Sunday, August 14 and Monday, August 15-- FIGHT CLUB

** Remember, Sunday night showtimes are at 9:00PM and Monday night showtimes are at 8:00PM for all movies (even the three-hour Godfather).

Enjoy the summer and see you there!
