Went to see Thor

May 13, 2011. Went to see Thor (Kenneth Branagh, 2011), with my own 3D glasses. It's not so often you get to see a superhero movie that's not crappy. Maybe Kenneth Branagh has something to do with that. It's a bit Shakespearean and a bit Freudian. I liked the fact that they concentrated so much on Asgard, instead of just having him kick ass on Midgard the way any (super)human superhero would. Plus, it's got lots of actors I like, and it's got Aussie superhunk Chris Hemsworth.

I was in sixth form when it came out, and was a student of 'Theatre Studies', so there was naturally a lot of talk about this overtly theatrical piece. Finally I was convinced to go and see it (Tom Done, who was in the year above and who was utterly terrifying, though who is now a good friend, won me over by stating the line I have used as a title.
