The point was to thank his family and all the other families for their support in helping get the iPhone ready in the build up to the expo and over the preceding years. Steve thanked the families in his keynote directly. I guess it to the public it says 'we do magic but we have personal lives too', maybe this is the softer side of Steve coming out.

For future proof and if budget allows, get the 6-core 3.33. At least those CPU's are still spendy currently. W3680 is 1059.00. 2x E5620's are around 700.00. I am in the same boat right now at work. We need to have 10.6 bootable pro's. If the 2011-12 Pro's ship with Lion and we wait we are very unhappy. So we are most likely buying a fleet of 3.33 6-cores. Update to lion after 10.7.4+. The users currently have 2.26GHz 8-core and they hate them for the Adobe work they do.

Just make sure that you let us know what it is you do end up with!
A Mini is also not a bad idea.
1) Get a refurbished one to save some bucks. Max out the RAM yourself - save bucks over Apple doing it.
2) Add FW external HDDs for storage. They can be used on a Mac Pro or an iMac later on.
3) With the money saved on the Mini, you can get a high quality monitor. Also transferable to a Mac Pro or an iMac later (as a 2nd monitor). A good monitor can used for several to many years comfortably. Imho, it's better to produce better photos (because the monitor is accurate) and wait some extra seconds, than to get a faster computer but put out photos with inaccurate colour.
4) Start investing in the SW tools that you will want/need. These are also transferable to a new system.
5) When you finally spring for a fully loaded, 24 core, 512MB RAM, 72 TB Storage, 4 graphic cards, 4 Thunderbolt ports iMac Pro Supreme Tower all of the peripherals and software moves too.
It's how I got started. A small Mini with a 23" ACD. Everything I bought to go with it also had to work with a (future) Mac Pro. Eventually I was working with Photoshop files that were approaching 1GB, on a Mini with only 1GB of memory (the days when opening a Mini involved spludging).
There was a lot of HDD thrashing. I was afraid that PS would crash, so I saved often. It took so long to save a big file, that I could go out and mow the lawn or do the dishes while it thrashed away. I got a lot of housework done that summer. Ironically, that Mini never crashed. Not once.
Eventually I got my current Mac Pro, and it was like moving from steam trains to warp drive. All the peripherals and SW moved too, so the only cost was the Mac Pro itself plus the extra HDDs I added at the time.
That Mini then got hooked up the TV where it served up all of our music throughout the house, and movies to the TV for a couple of years. I've upgraded that Mini to a newer one but the first one still works, and I keep it as a spare.
Nah... I just feel sentimental for it. What a workhorse!

Plan to use it for:
Time machine backups
Air drive
I'm looking for about 500GB to 1TB. Ideally, the drive will be setup near my TV, so it is important that it is quiet. Any suggestions for an external drive?

Why, what can you use the TB port with today?
It means in the near future I'd be able get high speed disk transfers via a large external drive (or disk array) while still having a small, portable 13" MBA.

Sup guys,
Ive got a iphone 3gs that my friend gave me to JB and Unlock. Its running IOS 4.2.1 and i wanted to restore to 4.3.2 for a fresh start to JB. When I tried to restore kept giving me (1015) error messages, I also tried the restore on a Mac and another Win7. Ive been researching on the Internet for the past 3 days! I downloaded so many programs its not even funny. I tried ~~~ Reb00tMee - iReb - Blackra1n - Recboot - iRecovery - TinyUmbrella - LibUSB - and also tried to downgrade iTunes and do all that - and many other things!! :o:o:o:o:mad:
Plz help me on this!
P.S. The symbol that the iphone is stuck on is the `Connect to iTunes` AND I AM NOT TRYING TO DOWNGRADE I AM JUST TRYING TO DO A REGULAR RESTORE. Ive done many JB's as well.

As evidence that some rich people didn't earn their wealth, you just referenced Enron that went bankrupt, Madoff who went to prison, and the Banks who we bailed out... and would have otherwise gone bankrupt. As far as "choosing" winners and losers, you seem fine with letting your vaunted "free market" do it; I happen to think that such a process is unjust if unalloyed with further means to prevent excess. The mere fact that a person makes a living and then some from the "free market" does not necessarily make them a legitimate "winner" with the strongest moral claim to all of their wealth. In fact, if you agree with the concept of taxation you already agree with this principle. Your "right" to anything is predicated on your ability to protect it, whether that be through legal processes, or through coercive force. Nothing in "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" specifically states that the top 1% of this nation ought own 50% of the wealth.
You are ignoring my point about how small cabals of wealthy and powerful people pay lip service to democracy and then do whatever they want - how is this somehow less of an injustice than the rest of us raising taxes on your beloved billionaires? Especially when you aren't one of them?
Finally, just because you have a legal or moral claim to wealth or property does not mean that you are the only person with a claim, or that your claim is the strongest. All Americans have a very strong moral and legal claim to being able to earn a living - but as wealth increases the moral claim weakens, to the point that the wealthiest people maintain much of their wealth not through any moral right but simply through their own ability to hang on to it. Your first dollar is very much yours - but your ten millionth is up for some debate.

As luck would have it right after transferring my entire iTunes music collection to my Time Capsule *and* importing 150 of my 300 CDs to TimeCapsule, my TC hard drive broke.
(btw, I have a separate question in peripherals on whether I should replace the TC in the U.S. or London, where I'm moving for the next 3-4 years.)
